Something Extra

Academics

Because we have an interest and a connection to the automotive and motorsport industry, we have a passion for the sport shared by many yet understood by few. We have this opportunity to share life's lessons before the 'test' with our students. While some of our elective courses may require a prerequisite, they will help to better prepare our students to enter their chosen profession not only with a solid academic background but with skills necessary to become successful. College application and workforce preparation are also high priorities at PacWest. We take serious interest in helping our students gain the skills they need to apply for and win scholarships and the jobs they need to achieve their life goals.

The course of study at PacWest Academy focuses on the traditional core curriculum areas of mathematics, English, science, history, visual or performing arts, fine arts and community service. We also offer a variety of electives including foreign languages. Live webcasts, sometimes called “virtual classrooms,” are very popular with students. In this real time setting our teachers can provide instruction, review instructional materials, and demonstrate how to solve problems, as well as have class discussions and work with group projects. Students can interact through a chat room or can use a computer headset/microphone to ask and answer questions and participate in group discussions. Each online class is recorded so that students can later play-back the recording and review the lesson. Also students who cannot attend the live class for whatever reason can view it at their convenience.
